This is the first book in the Addicted series by Krista Ritchie and Becca Ritchie. I was recommended this book by two friends and found it for sale through BookBub. Although it came highly recommended and was hyped up, I did not like this book in the least. It’s about two flawed and weak people that would rather indulge in their addictions then seek help and turn their lives around.
I enjoy reading about characters that are not perfect, it makes them more relatable, but Lily and Loren are not just flawed they are completely broken without a single redeeming quality between them. The two have used each other for cover from their families and others to hide their addiction to sex (Lily) and alcohol (Loren) but even with each other to lean on, they do not do anything to seek treatment. They are in complete denial and continue spiraling down to rock bottom. This may seem true in real life for people with addictions, and maybe that’s why I couldn’t connect with them, but it seemed like just a lot of talk to get help or get better and no action. There are 3 books in the series, but I do not plan on reading the others.
