Geoducks are for Lovers – Book Review

This is the first book that I’ve read by Daisy Prescott, I found her book on sale through BookBub which can be a hit or miss sometimes, and found another writer that doesn’t rely on overly dramatic characters or sex to keep readers engaged. This is a romance novel with some sex scenes but that is not what the characters or storyline are based on, thankfully.

The story is about a group of college friends reuniting before their 20 year school reunion. Although they’ve all kept in touch over the years, life and all it’s complications have gotten in the way of some relationships. Two of the main characters – Maggie and Gil – are best friends who are in love with each other but after past mistakes never became a couple. All the characters are very realistic with some silly quirks and believable thoughts/fears/actions so it’s easy to get immersed in this story. I enjoyed the solid relationships that all the characters share with one another and that this wasn’t about young love that is more influenced by hormones or the go to ‘he’s so beautiful’. It’s about truly knowing a person and having a deep connection that doesn’t fade with age and wrinkles.

This is the first book in the Modern Love Stories series and I’m really looking forward to reading the ones to follow.
