Moon Chosen – Book Review

This is the first book in P.C. Cast‘s new series Tales of a New World. Having read her other books, I was expecting a great story with plenty of magic, strong women and romances with a twist; and this one does not disappoint.

The book is goes back and forth between the main characters of each camp/group. It’s a post-apocalyptic world and different factions have emerged and are struggling to survive while others have flourished. Each group has a leader that has some form of magical power – one is from the sun, another the moon etc. While the main characters are trying to find their way in their world, some have secrets that they need to keep in order to survive and others are trying to bring out change to make life better for themselves. It’s a very detailed world that is thrown at you from the get go, and although I had some trouble getting into the characters right away; once I got about a quarter of the way into the book I was hooked and finished it pretty quickly.

I like the storyline and the characters and that this is a paranormal/fantasy world but not the typical vampires/werewolves/fairies that tend to dominate the genres. I am looking forward to the next one, but haven’t heard when it will be released yet.
